Benefits of Using Floral Foam Alternatives

I’ve recently been experimenting with floral foam alternatives and I’m amazed at the difference in texture and sustainability. Using chicken wire instead of foam has truly transformed my arrangements, allowing for more organic shapes and better water flow. Has anyone else tried switching to more eco-friendly tools? I’d love to hear your experiences.

I totally get where you’re coming from! Using chicken wire has made a world of difference for me too, but , sometimes it can be tricky to get the flowers to stay put. I found that adding some tape to secure the wire helps a ton.

Using chicken wire has really opened up my creativity too! I’ve found that adding some moss to the base keeps everything secure and adds a nice touch. Have you tried that?

I’ve had great success adding floral tape to secure stems in place when I’m working with more organic materials — it definitely helps keep everything exactly where I want it. Have you experimented with that at all, @mara_l92?

Switching to sustainable materials really does spark more creativity! I’ve tried using wood wool as a supportive base too; it’s surprisingly sturdy… Have you experimented with that?

It’s frustrating how long it took me to realize that using floral foam isn’t the only option. This past weekend, I tried using just a few branches to create a support structure for my arrangement, and it stayed surprisingly stable. I’ve never felt so free in my design process — have you thought about incorporating more natural elements like twigs or branches?
